How to Get Wrinkles Out of Clothes

Wrinkles usually strike at the most inconvenient times, like when you’re rushing out the door in the morning (already 10 minutes late) or traveling out of town and don’t have your trusty iron or steamer with you. That’s why it’s so important to know these tricks for getting wrinkles out of clothes and also prevent them from forming in the first place.

If you’re running out the door and realize you have a crinkle in your collar, you don’t need to lug out the ironing board. All you need to do is turn on your flat iron (maybe it’s already hot!) and give it a quick crisp up.

Tug out with water

For minor wrinkles, use your fingers to sprinkle water on your garment, then gently tug to loosen the fibers and eliminate wrinkles. Hang to dry.

Prevent with tissue paper

When packing clothes that wrinkle easily, lay the item inside a sheet of tissue paper (dry-cleaning bags work too) and fold as normal. The tissue will prevent creases from setting in.

Fold them lengthwise down the center, then thread one leg over the top of the hanger (with the crotch hitting the middle hook) and drape the other leg over it from the opposite side of the hanger. This is especially useful for linen pants.

And since sometimes nothing will revive a disheveled shirt better than a tool specifically designed to do so, try our top-rated irons and steamers. You’ll thank us the next time you’re running late for a meeting and your dress is a mess.
